Subterranean Dissonance Fest

The Silver

The world of extreme metal is plagued by predictability. Zombies, serial killers and evil wizards populate its lyrical hellscape, an all-too-familiar slag heap soaked in gore, necromancy and satanism. Rare is the band writing songs based on human experience. Rarer still are the ones that do it with a powerful combination of clean and harsh vocals, the latter performed by an enigmatic newcomer. Which is where The Silver come in.

Featuring brothers Matt and Jamie Knox from renowned death dealers Horrendous, Enrique Sagarnaga of acclaimed Philly doom squad Crypt Sermon, and newcomer Nick Duchemin, The Silver sounds almost nothing like the members’ other bands—and that’s completely on purpose.

Thier debut album, Ward Of Roses, an album that draws as much from black metal as it does from gothic rock and Voivod-ian space moves, that deals in blastbeats as much as romanticism.
